The Blue Cross
The Blue Cross is a charity that works to improve the health and welfare of pets and horses by providing practical care. The Blue Cross' services include treating pets whose owners cannot afford private veterinary treatment, finding permanent homes for unwanted or abandoned animals and educating the public in responsible animal ownership. |

Dogs Trust was founded in 1891 as the NCDL. Since then, Dogs Trust has been campaigning on dog-related welfare issues to ensure a safe and happy future for our four-legged friends. Dogs Trust are now the largest dog-welfare charity in the UK. |

Animals in Distress
The Animal in Distress Rescue Centre is a local charity based in Ipplepen Devon. It was formed in 1981 by Mrs Georgina Lang, Mrs Eileen Hunt and Mrs Muriel Sellick, who looked after dogs for people who were going into hospital. They now have a rescue centre in which they care for and re-home unwanted domestic animals. |
Paignton Zoo
Paignton Zoo was founded by Herbert Whitley, a shy, eccentric, millionaire, and was opened to the public in 1923. The Zoo is now an education and scientific charity dedicated to conserving our global wildlife heritage and inspiring in its many visitors a life long respect for animals and the environment. Paignton Zoo is part of the Whitley Wildlife Conservation Trust.

Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
The RCVS is the regulatory body for veterinary practitioners in the UK. Its three main roles are: A statutory regulator - undertaking the statutory responsibilities set out in the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 - to maintain a register of veterinary surgeons eligible to practise in the UK; to regulate veterinary education and to regulate professional conduct; A Royal College - exercising powers under the Royal Charter to award Fellowships, Diplomas and Certificates to veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses and others, and to act as an informed and impartial source of opinion on veterinary matters; A Trust - a separate charity established to promote and advance the study and practice of the art and science of veterinary surgery and medicine - by providing the RCVS Library and Information Service and a range of grants largely to support educational and research activities.
